Last week we had the opportunity to accompany the ISO Technical Committee on Robotics 299 on their visit to Spain. During this visit, hosted by the Centro de Automática y Robótica and Hospital Los Madroños, the international experts had the opportunity to get to know the facilities of both institutions, as well as the different projects that are being carried out there.
Guided visits to robotics facilities
During their visit to the Centre for Automatics and Robotics, they were able to learn about the different technologies available at the centre. Among them, our Exo-H3 lower limb exoskeleton, which was demonstrated by the BioRobotics group. Other technologies and groups were the Field and Service Robotics and Artificial Perception Group.
In another moment of the visit, the members of the committee were able to visit the facilities for testing exoskeletons that Los Madroños Hospital houses inside. There they could see first-hand the different test benches developed for the EUROBENCH project, in which you can see the Exo-H3 in the following video:
Standardisation works
This is not the first time we have been involved with standardisation bodies. For example, with the SALOEXO project, a sub-project of COVR, in which we searched for, tested and standardised the most significant indicators and sensors in terms of safety in the use of lower limb exoskeletons in realistic situations. We also participated in the CWA (CEN Workshop Agreement) 17664:2021, which proposed the standardisation of gait testing of a lower limb exoskeleton on uneven terrain. You can read the result here: https://www.cencenelec.eu/media/CEN-CENELEC/CWAs/RI/cwa17664_2021.pdf
We are very happy to be able to participate with these committees for standardisation within our area of expertise. We also appreciate the visit of the experts as well as the invitation of the hosts CAR and Madroños to participate in their initiatives.
We keep on working.
